Abstract

This study is aimed to uncover Impacts of power abuse in Rogue Lawyer novel by John Grisham. This study discusses how the main charachter Sebastian Ruud in Rogue Lawyer experiences power abuse occurs in Rogue Lawyer. Qualitative method by Creswell (1994:11) is used in this research. The goal of the study is to identify the power abuse form and also to analyze the impacts of power abuse which is explained using theory by Foucault (1998) and Weber (1947). As a result this study shows that this form of power abuse have three impacts, those are; benefits of power abuse for personal, group, or group interests, deviating from the purpose of authority by official goverments, and procedures of abuse faced by Sebastian Ruud. Moreover, Sebastian realizes that government officials have violated their power and to influence him in making a decision. They even become more authoritarian and dominate with their power.
