Abstract

This thesis was aimed at analyzing the conversational characteristic features of men and women implied in a novel entitled “The Case of The Love Comandos“ by Tarquin Hall. The writer analyzed the characters and the conversations through the conflicts and the romances. The theory used in this study is the theory by Maltz and Borker (1982). This study use a qualitative approach with research and data sources from the novel which written by Tarquin Hall, which were than collected randomly. Surprisingly, this novel is one of the ten best mysteries of the year (Seattle Times), private investigator Vish Puri becomes embroiled in a high-stakes mystery involving one of the India’s most controversial commodities in love. By using qualitative as the approach of this study, the data are collected by reading, identifying, marking, and analyzing the object of this analysis. The theory that used to analyze the data is Maltz and Borker theory a cultural approach to male-female miscommunication. The result of this analysis reveals that both men and women characters are influenced by the gender, culture and social life. Men tend to play large groups that are hierarchycally structured, they will be a leader and also men tend to tell jokes stories and straight forward to the point in doing conversation. However women tend to play in small groups or in pairs, the center of a women social life is the best friend and also they like gossiping and so on.
