Abstract
This study describes the pragmatic study about speech actof Illocutionary acts, direct and indirect ways of Illocutionary Acts and the context that underlying the speech in Priyanka Chopra’s speech on Breaking The Glass Ceiling. This study usedJ.R.Searletheory (1976)of Illocutionary Acts to identify the classification of Illocutionary Acts, the context, and meaning behind those utterances. In addition, this study used George Yuletheory (1997) to analyze the direct and indirect speech act form found in the speech. This study found that Illocutionary Acts plays important rules when someone utters something that has certain meanings and purposes to be done by the receiver. Illocutionary Acts help the speaker to deliver his purposes upon the receiver. Furthermore, the receiver to get the context of what has been said by the speaker clearly, and be able to catch the meanings of sentences.
