Abstract

The study entitled "Derivational Affixes in a Forbes Indonesia Magazine Selected Article" is aimed at analyzing the roots of words, to describe the types of affixes, and to explain the changes of word classes in derivational affixes. Selected articles were chosen from the magazine to get the data of derivational affixes. This study uses the theory of Carstairs and McCarty (2002) and O'Grady (2016). The result of this analysis shows there are 55 derivational affixes which are classified into three derivational prefix. They are 2 nouns, 2 verbs, and 1 adjective, and three derivational suffix they are 32 nouns, 7 adjectives, and 11 adverbs. It is shows that the part speech classification of the bases or roots in Forbes Indonesia Magazine is mostly presented in noun, which the both of derivational suffix and prefix, the most dominant is presented in derivational suffix.
