Abstract

This study is aimed to find and to analyze kinds of sexism in Marge Piercy’s selected poems, there are “Barbie Doll”, “A Work of Artifice”, and “The Woman in the Ordinary”. The discussion related to the content of the study focused on kinds of sexism that depict negative opinion about women cause of the society culture. In this study, the writer used qualitative approach by noting, describing and analyzing the meanings of the poems. The theory used is the theory of ambivalent sexism from Glick and Fiske (1996). As the result of this study, the writer found two types of sexism, those are hostile sexism and benevolent sexism. This study shows that in Piercy’s selected poems are representations of the author’s feeling and expressions that are delivered indirectly about the issue towards women in the society point of view.
