Abstract

The purpose of this study is to show the students’ motivation in learning English vocabulary, especially for students with dyslexia. This study entitled is “Students’ Motivation In Learning Vocabulary by Using Video Songs and Pictures” (a case study of 15 students with dyslexia at SDS Tunas Indonesia Bintaro). This study was conducted to show the learning activities in motivating the students with dyslexia in learning English vocabulary. The method used in this study was qualitative, through observation, documentation and questionnaire. This study was conducted by direct observation in two different classes. In conducting the study, the writer involved two English teachers; a local English teacher and native English teacher. The data were collected by observing the process of learning vocabulary in the class, giving the questionnaire to the students to know their motivation in learning vocabulary by using video songs and pictures, and taking pictures while learning process in the class as documentation. The study used the theory of Wu (2003), about instrinsic and extrinsic motivation. The result showed that the implementation of learning vocabulary by using video songs and pictures made the students with dyslexia enjoyed the learning process also made them interactive more with the teachers and friends in the class. Besides that, the students with dyslexia interested more and excited in studying vocabulary by using video songs and pictures. In summary, learning vocabulary by using video songs and pictures made the students with dyslexia motivated in learning English vocabulary.
