Abstract

Brass is one of the metals that is very useful for technological needs and household needs. The way or selection of the wrong welding will affect the decrease in the quality of production items such as construction strength, welded joint strength, weld toughness, and also its neatness, therefore there is a need for research to find out the proper method and method of welding on brass material. One of the strength tests of brass is impact charpy testing. The basic principle of charpy testing is the amount of shock force needed to break the test object divided by the cross sectional area. At first the Charpy pendulum was adjusted at the top, then released so that it hit the test object and the pendulum swung to the lower position. From the results of the variable analysis of brass welding on brass specimens, the greatest impact energy can be found on specimen number 3 (c) on the square groove welding variable with the value of Energy Impact EI 112,134 joules and Impact strength KI 1,401 J/mm2. The highest hardness value on the welding variable square groove is 116.600 Kg/mm2 . Keywords: Material testing, Charpy test, Brass, Hardness Welding variation
