Abstract

This study proposed to find out one of a good techniques in learning speaking because in learning process the students faced some difficulties. For that reasons the writer aimed to investigate the problem used the observation using Storytelling technique at the 8th grade of SMPN 6 Tangerang Selatan. This technique was expected to help the students easier in express themselves and feel enjoyed in practice their speaking ability. The writer used qualitative method then the writer used speaking test, interviewed the teacher and also analyzed the activities during the observation. After doing the observation, the writer analyzed all of the data, then the result of data are, there are improvement in their speaking ability, some students were more confidence and feel free to speak English. The result of their speaking test the lowest score is 31.25, the highest score is 98.75 and mean is 59.7 from 36 students and the result of questionnaires answered the questionnaires that the students enjoyed in learning using Storytelling technique. It can be concluded there is improvement in their speaking skills of students at the 8th grade of SMPN 6 Tangerang Selatan after learning using Storytelling technique.
