Abstract

In this study, the writer analyzed the aspect of human life called as personality and social background. Personality and social background can not be overlooked because it becomes the needs of a human. The purpose of this study is to describes the personality, personality traits, and the social background of Merida in her struggle to change her fate in Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman’s Brave Film. To accomplish this study, the writer applies personality theory and social background theory. Then, to support the analysis the writer needs some theories and concepts such as concept of personality, personalty traits, and its effect on people life. Moreover, descriptive qualitative method is implemented in this analysis since the result of the analysis will be described by words not in numeral data. As a result of the analysis, the writer presents three major points as reflected in the Brave film. The first point is the personality of Merida includes her braveness to break the tradition and rules to change her fate. The second point is the personality traits of Merida which brings big impact to her. The last point is social background. It is provides the human’s need such as the emotional satisfication and comfort, that can effect the mood, feelings and the personality of Merida.
