Abstract

The purposes of this study were to identify the types of deixis used in the dialogues among characters in Bad Boys II movie and also to describe the functions of those deixis. The writer took the data from the script which were used in the utterances or dialogues in film. The method that was used in this study is decriptive qualitative and the writer used Levinson (1983) theory in analyzing the data. After completing this study, and put them in written form, it came to conclusion that there were five types of deixis and their functions used in the film, namely personal deixis, time deixis, place deixis, discourse deixis and social deixis in the movie.
