Abstract

The title of this study is “The Psychological Analysis of Personal Identity of The Main Character in Oscar Wilde’s Drama, The Importance of Being Earnest.”This study is purposed to describe and to search the personal identity in the drama entitled The Importance of Being Earnest. This study appliedindividual psychological theory from Alfred Adler (1964).Individual psychological concept relates to personal identity in a drama. The result of this study is personal identity can be identified by name, family status and political decision. It is also depicted by searching for personal identity which can be identified by inferiority feeling, fictional finalism, striving for superiority, style of life, and creative power.
