Abstract

The aim of this study entitled “An Analysis of Onomatopoeic Words in Death Note Comic by Tsugumi Ohba” is to describe about the types, contextual meaning, and also associative meaning of Onomatopoeic Words which are sometime different from each other. Onomatopoeic Words are the one of speculation the origin of language which is related to the natural sounds source. In conducting this study Qualitative method is used to collect the data by reading the comic and finding the data which were related to Onomatopoeic Words. To support analyzed the data, the writer uses theory from Krishnamurti (2003), Crystal (2008), and Ogden and Richard (1989). Based on the analysis of Onomatopoeic Words, there are 45 data that divided into two types found in this study is Non – Reduplicated Onomatopoeia because there are 24 data from 45 data of Onomatopoeic Words which included into this types . Key Words: Morphology, Onomatopoeic Words, Death Note Comic, Types, Contextual Meaning and Associative meaning, Qualitative Method.
