Abstract

This study is aimed to discuss the process of Teaching Speaking for Young Learners Using CBI (Content Based Instruction) the study was conducted in class ten grade at SMKN 3 Tangerang Selatan. This study also discussed the materials in the class, and the implementation of learning process in the class. To find out the result of teaching speaking using CBI, many activities were given such as variation topics in speaking or conversation. The Observation, interview, and questionnaire were done in the process of teaching speaking. From the result of the study, it can be concluded that teaching speaking for young learners using CBI (Content Based Instruction) is able to motivate students to speak English and also improve their speaking skill. The activities given were interesting such as story- telling, brainstorming, discussion, information gap, interview, story completion, reporting, picture describing, simulation and roleplay and doing corrections with their peers. The result of the study shows that speaking activity can give some advantages to the students, such as to give motivate the students and make them able to speak well.
