Abstract

This study entitled “IMPROVING THE STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILL WITH INTERESTING MATERIALS THROUGH COMMUNICATIVE LANGUAGE TEACHING (A case study at tenth grade students of SMK Utama Bintaro)”. This study analyzed the improvement of the students’ speaking skill using CLT method. The objectives of the study are to find the improvement of the students’ speaking skill who were taught using CLT, to know the materials & the situation of teaching and learning when CLT method was implemented in speaking class, and to find out the results of speaking score by using Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) method in speaking class. The methodology of this study is qualitative approach. To find out the improvement of the students’ speaking skill, the writer did the observation, an interview with the English teacher and the questionnaire for students. The result of the study showed that there is an improvement of the students’ speaking skill using Communicative Language Teaching method. The students involved actively in teaching learning process, they could give a positive responses and confident to speak English.
