Abstract
The aim of this study is to find out the slang languages and types of slang languages that are found in gay communities in Jakarta and Tangerang Selatan. In this study, the writer uses qualitative method. The theories of slang terms by Eric Patridge (1970), and collected the data of slang terms from the interview and observation on the gay communities. The slang terms are analyzed one by one to know the types of slang terms and the meaning of slang terms. This study focused and limited on society slang terms. As a result of the study, the writer concludes that slang terms used in gay community can be classified into society slang. The total of slang languages are 24 society slang. These are based on the languages used in gay community were mentioned such as bottom, chicken, lacy, shemale, top, yestergay, ect. Keywords: Qualitative method, types of slang languages, society slang, gay community.
