Abstract

The study entitled “An Analysis of Medical Jargon in Alodokter Online Page”, which aims at identifying and analyzing types, kind and the description of medical jargon. This study focuses on medical jargon in Alodokter online page. The writer used Qualitative approach in this study as the data categorized into the types and functions. The data were analyzed based on the theory of Finegan and Richard, Jack C et.al. The result of this study showed that there were 40(forty) jargons used in Alodokter Online page. Furthermore, there were found 4 (four) medical jargon terms formed by acronym, 7 (seven) formed by initialism, 1(one) formed by blend, 17(seventeen) borrowing, 2(two) derivation and 9 (nine) compound. Based on the data finding, it can be seen that medical jargon words of borrowing category was the most dominant words in this online page.
