Abstract

This study is aimed to analyze the activities in teaching speaking through CLT (Communicative Language Teaching), materials used, and the result of teaching speaking in the class. The writer described and explained regarding on how to teach speaking using pictures that is implemented in seventh class at SMPN 2 Parung. The approach used in this study is qualitative, by doing observation, interviewing teacher and giving questionnaires to the students. Through descriptive qualitative approach, the data were analyzed in description. This study found out the activity in teaching speaking which were done at SMPN 2 Parung especially in seventh grade through pictures and using Communicative Language Teaching. The teacher has implemented CLT (Communicative Language Teaching) method in learning process. CLT method can improve students’ ability. It can be seen by the students’ score which most of them have good score. The result was from the questionnaire to the students, it show that 36 students enjoy speaking class using pictures through CLT method and they felt more comfortable and they are easy to express their ideas in their picture. The results in this study are the students can improve their speaking ability and make them be more active and confidence. Key Words: Teaching Speaking, Pictures, CLT and Qualitative.
