Abstract

The objectives of this study are to find the way of hippie culture thinking, believing and the characteristics of behaving that occurred in selected lyrics of The Beatles. In this study, descriptive qualitative method and cultural studies were used to finding and analyze the lyrics. This study uses the cultural perspective of some expert such as Abrams (1999), Storey (2009), and Shires (2007) as theories of cultural study of hippie culture. The data were gained from the selected lyrics. In collecting data, methods that were used were reading the lyrics in several times, then finding, classifying the references to match subject related to this analysis. The result of this research shows there are some elements of hippie culture about the way of thinking, believing and the characteristics of behaving.
