Abstract

The background of this study is non-verbal communication that humans can use to convey information on the highway. Due to a lack of knowledge, many people are still unaware of this information. The writer is very interested in analyzing this study because non-verbal information is basic knowledge that road users should already be familiar with. The title of this study is “The Semiotic Analysis of Traffic Signs in the Pondok Indah Area.” This study aims to analyze signs using Charles Sanders Peirce’s theory (1931). The writer uses a qualitative method to analyze this study. The data in this study were collected on Jalan Raya Metro Pondok Indah, as per the regulation of the Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, issued on PM 13 of 2014. Peirce’s theory focuses on three elements: Representamen, Interpretant, and Object, commonly referred to as triadic models. The results of this study indicate that every sign found consists of the three elements described by Peirce.
