Abstract

This study is entitled “Power Relations in Women Talking Film (2022).” The objectives of this study are to examine how the issue of power relation is portrayed in the film, and to analyze how the characters resist these power structures. The study employs a descriptive qualitative method, using scenes and dialogues from the film as the primary data. The analysis draws upon Michel Foucault’s concept of power relations and resistance, particularly as discussed in his 1982 work, to explore how power operates in social interactions. The findings reveal that men exercise power through domination, subjugation, and exploitation. In response, the women engage in various forms of power resistance, including verbal confrontation, collective decision-making, and ultimately choosing to leave the colony as an act of liberation.
