Abstract
This thesis examines how anxiety is depicted in the Don’t Breathe film by Fade Alvares, focusing on the experiences of the main characters. The study aims to describe the types of anxiety faced by the main characters, Money, Rocky, and Alex and to analyze how they deal with these feelings during critical moments in the story. Using Calvin Hall’s theory of anxiety (1954), the study identifies reality anxiety, neurotic anxiety, and moral anxiety as experienced by the characters while they struggle to survive in life threatening situations. The qualitative method is used to analyze the film’s narrative and character actions. The results reveal that anxiety greatly influences the main characters’ decisions and behaviors, especially when they are under extreme pressure. This study is expected to contribute to a deeper understanding of how psychological issues, particularly anxiety, are represented in film and to provide a useful reference for further research in literature and psychology.
