Abstract

This study is entitled The Concept of Damsel in Distress in Aurora and the Diamond Crown illustrated book. The main character, Princess Aurora, has to answer three riddles successfully before rewarded a diamond crown in her seventeenth birthday. The plot of the story presents a significance role of a prince’s presence towards the princess’ life. Therefore, this study was aimed at examine the concept of damsel in distress. This study used qualitative method in which the narrative elements of the illustrated book, namely: character & characterizations, plot, point of view, setting, pictures, and colors, were analyzed by using the concept of damsel in distress theory by Rozario (2004).
