Abstract

This analysis aims to observe interracial conflict between black and white female characters in The Help novel by Kathryn Stockett. The method of this study uses qualitative method by analyzing the interracial conflict of the novel. Based on the qualitative method in which the data should be put in the analysis; therefore, the data of the analysis conflict and characteristic are collected by finding and evidence from the dialogues and some quotations in the novel. After the data have been collected and analyzed, furthermore, the data were written in paragraph form. This research explains conflicts between two different races through S.DaleMcLemore’s theory of prejudice and discrimination and reduces interracial conflicts which are caused by prejudice and discrimination.The research findings show that interracial conflict arises through the characters by several aspects of prejudice and discrimination. This research finds that the interracial conflict between them is solved by publishing a book. The book shows that how the white families treat their black maids.
