Abstract

This study discusses about slang words that focus on the dialogues found in the ELEANOR & PARK NOVEL written by Rainbow Rowell. Qualitative method was chosen to conduct this study. In this study, the writer found four kinds of slang words namely society slang, workmen’s slang, public school and university slang and public house slang that were analyzed using Partridge and Myers theories (1950). There were forty one data of slang words that were found in this analysis. The most dominant slang type is society slang. It is hoped this study could give contribution for sociolinguistics study for the next writers. Keyword: Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, Slang Language
