Abstract

This thesis discusses about types of social conflict and factors affecting the social conflict in Blood Diamond Film directed by Edward Zwick and written by Charles Leavitt. The discussion is limited only on types of social conflict and its factors. The types of social conflict in this film that are realistic and non-realistic conflict and the factors are individual differences, cultural differences, social change and political competition. To analyse social conflict in this study, the writer uses theory by Lewis Coser (1956). The method used in this study is qualitative. The data of the study were taken from the film scripting and the references were taken from the book and other references which support and correlate with the main issue. Based on the result of the data analysis, the writer concludes that in the Blood Diamond Film, the conflict occurred because of many disappointments from the native people to Government. And there are persons who take an advantages from the conflict and make it to be continuously. Key words: Literature, film, social conflict, realistic and non-realistic conflict and sociology
