Abstract

This study discusses Jargon terms. Jargon is the special language that is use in particular group in the same profession fields or activities. The writer studies Jargon as the object of study in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) Used by Accounting Division at PT. Super Bata. The aims of this study are to classify the form of jargon terms, to describe the meaning and to explain the function of jargon terms that the accountants used in making financial statements. The theory from Dostert in Yule (2006) is used to classify the form of jargon terms, while theory from Weygandt; Kimmel and Kieso (2010) and Sucipto; Moelyati, Sumardi and Suyuto (2004) are used to identify the meaning and function of jargon terms. In addition, the method of this study is qualitative research which describes about the phenomenon of variety of language in social life. On the other hand, all the data explained are in the form of short essay. From the analysis there are 40 jargon terms found in ERP System used by Accounting Division. In conclusion, jargon terms can be found in system or program that every company used to operate the operational data. Keywords: Sociolinguistics – Jargon – ERP System – Accounting Language
