Abstract
In this thesis, the writer analyzed figurative language in The Fault In Our Stars novel by John Green (2012). The writer analyzed the data based on Burto & Cain (2008) and Abrams (1999) theory. From the analysis results, there are 25 figurative languages contains of; 5 Metaphor, 5 Simile, 5 personifications, 5 Hyperbole, 5 Irony and the writer analyzed the meaning. Based on these findings, figurative language in the Green’s novel influences the novel itself so that the readers understand character’s feeling, topics of conversation, individuals, social setting, and related factors influences types, and interactional consequences. Key words: Literature, Novel, Figurative language.
