Abstract

This study is about word formation process in morphology which is shortened form by combining certain parts of a word known as an abbreviation. The purpose of this study is to deepen the knowledge in linguistics especially in morphology field. Moreover, this study is intended to discuss abbreviation words found in OLX advertisement,and to find out types of abbreviation words found in OLX. The data were taken from OLX , in October 2015 to December 2015. To answer the statements of a the problem, the writer used theory of plag(2002). Descriptive qualitative approach is used as a method of this study. After classifying and analyzing, the result of the study shows 30 data of abbreviation word that divided into 3 types acronym, abbreviation and initialsm (contains initial letter). Key words : Abbreviations, morphology, initialsm, and acronym.
