Abstract
Theoretically, in communication, people should apply the cooperative principle that consists on four maxims of conversation. According to Grice (1975), people should obey those maxims in order to have an effective communication without any miscommunication. In fact, people sometimes flout the maxims. People mostly have reason behind flouting the maxims. Therefore, in this study, the writer is interested in analyzing the types of maxims in “X-Men Days of Future Past” film. The methode of data analysis, the writer used qualitative methode. The writer chooses “X-Men Days of Future Past” film as it has good effect and visuals, and it also provides excellent commentary on the issue of fiction story as well as good appreciation by the audience. The result of the study shows that there are Maxims happens in the dialogues between the characters in the “X-Men Days of Future Past” film. Key Words : Linguistics, Pragmatics, Cooperative Principles, Conversational Maxim.
