Abstract

This study aimed to explain and to give deepen knowledge about Linguistics study, especially in Sociolinguistics. This study was also conducted to analyze the code mixing and code switching that are used in naratives and conversation between the Host and guest star on “Chef’s Table” cooking show Television Program. This study was conducted to determine the types and the functions of code mixing and code switching on “Chef’s Table” cooking show Television Program. In analyze the data on “Chef’s Table” coooking show Television Program, the writer uses the descriptive qualitative as the method in this study. The first theories that are used in conducting this study are the theory of Jendra to analyze the types of code mixing and code switching and the theory from Dell Hymes to analyze the functions of code mixing and code switching that are used in the narratives and conversation by the host and the guest on “Chef’s Table” cooking show Television program. Key Words : Languages, Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, Code Mixing, Code Switching.
