Abstract

This study aims to find out types of Code-Switching, to explain the functions of Code-Switching used in the conversation of D Academy Asia Indosiar Program The writer contain four types of Hoffman theory. While the writer use Gumperz to analysis functions of code switching. Then four types and four functions determined by the classification of each. Qualitative approach is used to describe occurrence of code switching contain types and functions. The data of code switching collected data and classified according the types and the functions. After that identify data and explain every sample data. Analysis is focused type and function of code switching that occurs in D Academy Asia Indosiar Program. Based on the result of the analysis it can be concluded four types, that is intra-sentential switches 67.55%, Inter-sentential 15%, Establishing continuity 12.5 % , and emblematic switches 2.5%. Otherwise the writer found four functions, functions of code switching occurs in amount quotations 10%, addressee specification 75%, reiterations 7.5%, and message qualification 7.5%. Keyword: Sociolinguistic, code switching, type, function, qualitative.
