Abstract

This study aims to understand children literature analysis of the character Cinderella and her step mother based on Encoding-Decoding theory. This study shows to the readers about the messages in Encoding-Decoding process which appears in the character Cinderella and her step mother. The writer used dialogues and scenes as the data from Cinderella film. The method used in this study is qualitative in which the writer can understand the encoding-decoding in Cinderella film. The writer uses the theory about Encoding-Decoding from Stuart Hall (1980). As the result of this study, the writer found 12 messages of encoding-decoding process by Cinderella and step mother. The analysis has been taken from three positions: the dominant-hegemonic position, the negotiated position and the oppositional view.
