Abstract

The study concerns to analyze the expression of the main characters’ love in “The Return of The Natïve” Novel by Thomas Hardy. The method used in this study is qualitative method. In analyzing, the writer explained about the expression of the main characters’ love and types of the main characters. In this study the writer uses theory Fromm (1970) and theory Di Yanni (2000). The writer found variety of love expressions such as symbols, direct, indirect, act, falling in love. The result of this study First, love is one of the important aspects which needed in our life.The second data is about four elements of creative relationship in love: knowledge, care, respect, and responsibility. And the last, because of love. People will do anything including willing leave his parents In analyzing, the writer explained about the expression of the main characters’ love and types of the main characters. In this study the writer uses theory Fromm (1970) and theory Di Yanni (2000). The writer found variety of love expressions such as symbols, direct, indirect, act, falling in love, and description expression. Key Word : Expressions, Main Characters, Love
