Abstract
The selection of outstanding students plays an important role in the quality of the school. At SMA Yadika 1 Duri Kepa, the selection of outstanding students has not been maximized, because there is no special application that handles the decision support system for the selection of outstanding students. Also because of the large number of spreadsheets used in Excel, there is often data that is confused and in data storage that still uses archives, such as the risk of large data loss and the need for a system to store the data. With these problems, alternatives that can be done to help the Yadika 1 Duri Kepa High School school, researchers will design a decision support system for selecting web-based outstanding students using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method by taking from the criteria determined by the school, namely average report card scores, attendance, extracurricular achievement, discipline and attitude. This research provides solutions through a Decision Support System with a model of selecting outstanding students in accordance with the criteria and weights that have been measured, so that it will produce rankings according to student weights and criteria. The calculation process can be more effective so that it can find out students who excel faster, besides that it can motivate students to improve their learning ability and achievement so that healthy competition occurs.
