Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Implicature in Black Conservatives Debate Black Liberals on American Politics. The objective of the study was to identify the types of implicature and find out the implied meaning in “Black Conservatives Debate Black Liberals on American Politics”. The writer used Grice’s theory of implicature in analyzing the types of implicature and to find out the implied meaning of implicature. This study applied a qualitative descriptive approach since this study. The data were collected from the utterances that were uttered by the host or the audience containing implied meaning of implicature. The writer collected the data by transcribing videos of the Black Conservatives Debate Black Liberals On American Politics in 2020. The result of the study shows that there were two types of implicature performed by the host or the audience in Black Conservatives Debate Black Liberals on American Politics: Conversational Implicature, and Conventional Implicature.
