Abstract
This thesis, entitled Mimicry in The Bones of Grace by Tahmima Anam, analyzes the issue of mimicry and its effects experienced by unnamed main female character. The aims of this research are (1) to identify and explain the issues of mimicry depicted in Tahmima Anam's The Bones of Grace and (2) to identify and explain the effects of mimicry found in Tahmima Anam's The Bones of Grace. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive by applying Homi K Bhabha's theory of mimicry in The Location of Culture (1994) to support the research. The data used in this thesis are literary work in the form of a novel. The results of this study show that the issue of mimicry in the novel refers to cultural imitation and its effects. The culture imitation is in the forms of behavior, manner, and value. Moreover, the effects of mimicry are ambiguity and disturbing. Keywords: Ambiguity, Culture, Mimicry.
