Abstract

This study analyzes the issue of domination that occur toward Muslim which represented in the novel. The main object of this study is the novel Yusuf Azeem Is Not A Hero (2021) by Saadia Faruqi. This study applies a qualitative research method in which the analysis of this study is presented the form of text. The writer uses the theory of Orientalism by Edward Said (1978) as the conceptual guidance in this study. The result of the study shows that there is domination which occurs toward Muslim characters in Frey, Texas. The act of domination is expressed through several form of dominations which are verbal form of domination, physical form of domination and mental form of domination in which these several forms of domination resulting in the act of resistance which done by Muslim characters which expressed in the form of self-restraint, self-defense and assimilation as to avoid the act of domination which aimed toward them.
