Abstract

The study is entitled “Sexual Harassment in The Love Hypothesis Novel by Ali Hazelwood (2021).” It aims to analyze sexual harassment experienced by the main character, Olive Smith as the victim in the novel “The Love Hypothesis.” This study focuses on the form, the impacts, and how the main character, as the victim, deals with sexual harassment. Sexual harassment is unwanted, unwelcome behavior, or attention, of a sexual nature that interferes with someone’s life. This phenomenon can occur anywhere, including in the educational or work environment, and it is also possible that this can happen in public places. Therefore, it is essential to increase awareness to be more aware of this "sexual harassment" phenomenon because sexual harassment is not only in physical form but can also be verbal. The theory used in analyzing the data is the theory about sexual harassment in the workplace from Boland (2005). This study was designed using a descriptive qualitative method. The result of the study shows that the main character gets the impact physically and psychologically. In this study, the victim gets a more profound psychological impact than a physical. However, the forms and the impact of sexual harassment are described in this study. Finally, the victim reports the sexual harassment that she has been through to the closest person.
