Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze identity crisis depicted of the main character in The Wild Robot novel (2016) by Peter Brown. This thesis aims to analyze the reflection of identity crisis and the way of the main character dealing with it. This study applies qualitative research method as the analysis presented in the form of text and dialogues. In order to guide this study, the writer uses the theory identity of James Marcia (1966). In this study, the writer focuses on the main character who is confused and difficult to find her true self due to her different which lead him to feel unacceptable by others. The study results show that the main character experience discrimination, unfair treatment by others that lead her to experience an identity crisis. And she deal with the identity crisis by being part of the society. In addition, The findings show that identity crises have the potential to have a negative impact on the people that are experiencing it in their social life.
