Abstract

Humans in general have different postures, races and genetics. However, as humans living side by side, they do not only need each other, but also respect each other as different races. However, the opposite is true, in this novel, it becomes the main reason why racial segregation occurs. This study entitled “Racial Segregation in Novel The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead”. This study aims to find out how racial segregation reflected and explain what causes racism. The theory applied in this study is Delgado and Stefancic (2001) and used qualitative methods to analyze the data. The data of this study is taken from the novel entitled “The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead”. From the results of this study it was found there are five ways to do things like racism, they are everyday racism, social construction, critique of liberalism, the black white binary, interest convergent. Meanwhile the effects of the racial segregation are racism, discrimination of white elites and working-class people, and power domination. Keywords: Racism, Segregation, Supremacy
