Abstract

The study analyse the exploration of hybridity and it’s impact on the main character’s Identity Crisis using Postcolonial Theory in the Novel “Hello Universe” by Erin Entrada Kelly. The object of this study was “Hello, Universe” novel by Erin Entrada Kelly and the data were analyzed through words and quotations that used the theory by Bhabha (1994). The qualitative method was used in this study in order to analyze the data using the hybridity to discover identity crisis and focused to reveal the impacts of hybridity in the novel. Based on the analysis, the result of this study was that the main character deals with an identity crisis by using his friend’s help from the accident that almost took his life. The study also found that the culture of Philippines and America influenced the main character’s life in the form of an accident. Keywords : culture, hybridity, identity crisis, multicultural.
