Abstract

This study analyzes gender equality struggle in RF Kuang‘s novel The Poppy War. This study aims how the issue of gender equality struggle depicted in the nov-el and also the writer show how the main character deal with the gender equality struggle issue in the novel The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang. This novel describes the life of Rin was nurtured by the Fang family since she was a little child. She was a poor war orphan from the countryside. Rin accepts the last opportunity she has to break out of an uncomfortable marriage passing the Keju and entering Sinegard when her foster parents seek to marry her off to a man who is three times her age. The research method of this study is qualitative by carrying out Judith Butler’s gender permotivity theory (1990). The results of the study describe the issue gen-der equality struggled depicted in the novel and describe how the main character deal with the issue gender equality struggle in the novel The Poppy War by R.F.
