Abstract
The aims of this study are to analyze and identify forms of F&B kitchen division jargon, reveal the meaning of the jargon, and describe the function of the jargon used by the F&B kitchen division community at Menteng Park Residence and is guided by using theories from Allan and Burridge (2006), and Chaer's theory (1990). The object of this study is an apartment in one of the cities of Menteng, Central Jakarta. This study used a qualitative descriptive method that presents analysis in writing. The data collection techniques are records and interviews. This study concluded that from 30 data found and analyzed by the writer, there are 30 forms of jargon found based on the theory used by the writer consisting of 2 abbreviation, 2 acronyms, 7 phrases and 19 words. Then, from the 30 data obtained, the writer found meanings of jargon based on the theory used, consisting of 5 term meaning, 2 conotative meanings, 12 denotative meanings, and 11 grammatical meanings. Furthermore, from the 30 data obtained, the writer found the functions of jargon based on the theory used, consisting of the first 17 functions, namely to serve as a technical or specialist language for precise and economical communication and the second 13 functions, namely to promote in-group solidarity and to exclude out-groupers, those who do not use the jargon.
