Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analysis the identity crisis portrayed in the novel Girl, Woman, Other. This study applies the descriptive-qualitative research method. In this study, the author uses Megan as the focal point. To guide this study, the writer used the perspective of Erik Erikson (1968) on the identity crisis character. Erikson's eight phases of psychosocial development outline how people can manage each stage and its effects on their lives based on the data analysis. In this study, the writer focuses on adolescents who are confused and have difficulty accepting their true selves as girls. The analysis of this study indicates that two essential parts can be concluded from it. First, there are several conditions faced by her when experiencing an identity crisis. Second, the barriers impacted by her depression were bullying, an uncomfortable home environment, and beginning a new relationship in their society. Therefore, Megan deals with these stages with an unresolved approach so that she can potentially create feelings of depression and discomfort. The results of this study show that the character struggled to cope with each stage more, and she experienced an identity crisis.
