Abstract
This study entitled “Derivational and Inflectional Affixes in Selected Articles on The Huffington post”. This study aims to what are derivational and inflectional found in selected on articles and how affixes change the function of part of speech. With the purpose of answering those two research questions, the writer applied the theory of Haspelmath (2002) on derivational and inflectional affixes. In this study applied qualitative descriptive qualitative method. The writer has taken datum from The Articles on The Huffington Post (published, January13th 2022) The result shows 45 of affixes. There are 30 derivational affixes found in selected articles on The Huffington Post the datum out of 29 bases: 19 of suffix and 1 prefix. Those appearance suffix ware -ty, -ion, ity, -al, -ly, -dis, -able, -ent. -ive, -ful Meanwhile, the appearance prefix was dis-. And 15 inflectional affixes found in selected articles on The Huffington Post. Inflection affix of -ing has function that refers to present progressive, Inflection affix of -ed has function that refers to past tense, Inflection affix of -s has function that refers to the verb of third person singular, Inflection affix of –‘s has function forming number, Inflection affix -s Plural has function of noun that more than one.
