Abstract
This research discussed Analysis on Signs and Meanings of Printed Media and Merchandise of MOS Cafe Indonesia’s Advertisements: A Semiotic Study. The theory employed in this paper is based on Roland Barthes' idea. The overarching goal of this paper is to talk about the deep connotations established by the advertising, who is also affiliated with the organization. Through semiotic theory, the researcher employs a qualitative descriptive approach by focusing on the description and interpretation of advertising from the MOS café restaurant. Four posters and twomerchandise comprise the six advertisements. In data analysis, the researcher searches for data, collects data, conducts analyses and classifications, interprets the data, and finally draws conclusions. The results indicated that every poster and merchandise at MOS café contains both verbal and nonverbal messages. 49 verbal signs and 28non-verbal signs exist. The conclusion of this study is that the majority of restaurants use several signs in their marketing to capture readers' attention and provide information to produce psychological impacts on readers. In addition, people's perceptions of restaurants are always associated with consumerism, capitalism, and obesity. Restaurants simply want to show that they are a restaurant that sells a lot of food products, that has characteristics that make it easy for customers to remember them.
