Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze and determine the kinds of code mixing used in Kpop Daebak Show Podcast by Eric Nam on July 13, 2021, and also classify the frequent types of code mixing. It also analyzes the possible reason for using code mixing in the podcast. The data used in this study are taken from Dive Studio YouTube channel on episode 120. This study used a qualitative method, and Muysken’s (2000) theory was used to analyze the type of code mixing, while the theory Hoffman’s (1991) was used to analyze the reason for using code mixing. The analysis shows that are 41 utterances in video podcasts that contain code mixing. There are two types of code mixing found in the data, which are 38 Insertions and 3 Alternations of code mixing. It means people mix their language with another language in a sentence at the same time. For the reason of using code mixing mostly this video has a reason to talk about a particular topic and sympathetic of something.
