Abstract
This study entitled “The Reflection of Ambivalence Identity and Mimicry in Home Is Not A Country” aims to describe ambivalent identity and mimicry that appears in the novel entitled Home Is Not A Country by Safia Elhillo in the context of post-colonialism. The main source of this study is the imprint novel entitled Home Is Not A Country by Safia Elhillo (2021). In this novel, the writer found the ambivalent identity and mimicry experienced by the main character and the characters around her. Ambivalent identity is two things that contradict each other in this context called culture in between. The process of ambivalence experienced by the main characters appeared a process of mimicry by camouflaging from a different culture. The theory relevant to the issue is by Homi K.Bhabha (1994) who discusses ambivalence identity and mimicry. This study uses a qualitative approach to find the data. In this study, the writer found the results of several identifications of ambivalent identity and mimicry in the Home Is Not A Country novel, especially in the aspect of identity include including behavior, language, and habit.
