Abstract

This study aimed to found out the main character’s anxiety, the causes, and the effects of anxiety that portrayed in The Kite Runner novel by Khaled Hosseini. This study applies qualitative research method as analysis presented in the form of text. The data were analyzed based on Freud’s theory psychoanalysis. The result of the study, the writer found that the Kite Runner novel, indicated three types of anxiety suffer by the main character which are, realistic, neurotic, and moral anxiety. The anxiety experienced by the main character caused by various things when he was a child. The writer also found the causes of the main character’s anxiety sch as the environment, intimidation, fear, and betrayal, not only the causes the writer even found several effects of the main character’s anxiety that were produced by the anxiety, which are guilt, insomnia, and frustration.
