Abstract

This study aims to 1) describe the types of expressive speech found on the @fiersabesari twitter account 2) describe the function of the sentences found on the @fiersabesari Twitter account. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The process of collecting data the author uses the method of listening by using the note-taking technique as a follow-up technique. Sources of data used in this study are words, actions, notes, and documents on social media, namely Twitter @fiersabesari. This twitter account is owned by a public figure named Fiersa Besari who is well known as an Indonesian writer and musician. Fiersa is registered on a twitter account with the name @fiersabesari and has more than 8.7 million followers in mid-2021. The results of this study show the types and functions of acts expressive speech on the Twitter account @fiersabesari using a pragmatic approach. There are eight types of speech acts in this study, namely expressive speech acts of apologizing, condolences, praising, congratulating, hoping, thanking, contradicting, and satire. The number of expressive speech acts is 43 data.
